Brankica Bošnjak Terzić

Brankica Bošnjak Terzić, PhD, is nominated for the FIPLV International Award in recognition of her exceptional and sustained contribution to language teaching and learning, professional leadership, and advocacy for
Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP) in higher education in Croatia and abroad. She holds a PhD in philology from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, and has built an academic career grounded in applied linguistics and language pedagogy, with a strong and
continuous focus on LSP. Since 2016, she has served as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, University of Zagreb, Department of Technical Foreign Languages, where she has developed and implemented innovative approaches to LSP instruction tailored to the linguistic and professional needs of engineering students, significantly enhancing learning outcomes and employability-related competences.

Her contribution to language teaching extends to scholarly research, publications, and active participation in national and international conferences, as well as engagement in European projects within the European Higher Education Area, promoting innovation, quality assurance, and international cooperation in language education. She is the author of several secondary school textbooks for teaching English in technical and vocational education, textbooks for preparation for the Croatian State Matura Examination, and the university textbook Technical English for Mechatronics and Robotics 1, with a second volume currently in preparation.

Brankica Bošnjak Terzić has made an outstanding contribution to the professional community through her leadership of the Croatian Association of LSP Teachers at Higher Education Institutions (UNJSVU). Since 2020,
she has served as President of the Association and is currently in her second term (2024–2028). Under her leadership, the Association has significantly strengthened its professional profile. She organised the last three UNJSVU conferences and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Conference Proceedings for the last three editions, ensuring high academic standards and a rigorous peer-review process. She has also played a key role in improving career advancement frameworks for LSP teachers in Croatia, resulting in the improvement of professional recognition and working conditions.
