Nemira Mačianskienė

Prof. Dr. Nemira Mačianskienė is an outstanding scholar whose professional work and contributions have significantly advanced language policy, applied linguistics, multilingualism, and educational innovation both in Lithuania and internationally. She demonstrates the highest professional, ethical, and academic standards and actively contributes to research, educational policy development, and collaboration among linguists. Her expertise spans language policy, multilingualism, plurilingualism, English language teaching methodology, learner strategies, intercultural communication, translation, interpretation, and language teaching and learning in multicultural higher education contexts.

Prof. Dr. Nemira Mačianskienė is the founder of the Institute of Foreign Languages at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) and the author of an intensive language teaching model successfully implemented at VMU, enabling students to achieve high linguistic competence. She is also the initiator and developer of VMU Language Policy document. She is the author of the monograph Foreign Language Learning Strategies and more than 95 scientific publications, as well as institutional coordinator or researcher in 28 international projects, including the APATCHE project (2022–2023) which she was coordinating. She is the long-term head of the Multilingual Competence Development Research Cluster, Editor-in-Chief of the journal Sustainable Multilingualism (since 2012), and the founder and Chair of the Scientific Committee of the international conference Sustainable Multilingualism (since 2009).

Prof. Dr. Nemira Mačianskienė is a member of the Language Teachers’ Association of Lithuania (LKPA), the European Society for the Study of English (ESSE), and the European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN). She represents the Lithuanian academic community at international forums and conferences, promotes Lithuanian research achievements, and actively participates in discussions on language policy and multilingual practices across Europe.

Prof. Dr. Nemira Mačianskienė is widely recognized for her expertise, extensive experience, and her ability to bring linguists together for collaborative work and the advancement of research in sustainable multilingualism. She is highly regarded both among Lithuanian linguists, educologists, and the members of the Language Teachers’ Association of Lithuania (LKPA).
