“Unity in diversity: languages for mobility, jobs and active citizenship” Vilnius, Lithuania (September 2013)

FIPLV President Terry Lamb was invited by the European Commission to attend the EC High Level Conference, “Unity in diversity:  languages for mobility, jobs and active citizenship”  in Vilnius, Lithuania on 25-26 September 2013.

The event marked the European Day of Languages, which has provided an opportunity to highlight Europe’s wealth of languages for more than a decade. It was organised under the auspices of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and enjoyed the patronage of European Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou.

The conference addressed the following main themes:

  • Language Learning for mobility and work
  • Translating and interpreting for active citizenship
  • Languages in the digital domain.

Terry was also able to enjoy the hospitality of leading officers of FIPLV’s member association LKPA, the Language Teachers’ Association of Lithuania.

Now we have all conference materials available on line.
