Apps, Videos, Augmented Reality – Deutsch multimedial erleben!Am ersten Märzwochenende, Fr-So, 4.-6.3.2016 treffen sich die auf der ganzen Welt verteilten Teilnehmenden aus dem Bereich Deutsch als Fremd-/Zweitsprache, um unter dem Titel „Deutsch multimedial erleben“ neue Trends und Angebote live am Bildschirm kennen zu lernen, Erfahrungen von Lehrenden auszutauschen und über den didaktischen Mehrwert von Multimedia zu diskutieren. Nach Jahren der Euphorie über die Möglichkeiten der Technik, wird nun wieder stärker auf die sinnvolle Einbettung in einen pädagogischen Kontext geachtet.

The concept of transnationality is increasingly common currency in the globalized world.

Modern Languages, both implicitly or explicitly, deals with the transnational aspects of cultures and, as a discipline, it is hence ideally suited to have societal impact on the construction of transnational education. Intercultural citizenship, in particular, is becoming a sine qua non in the Twenty-First Century. Modern Languages poses multicultural and multilingual questions about identity, subjectivity and alterity of past, present and future. As academics we represent institutional power and theoretical knowledge; we are mediators between theoretical processes of conceptualization and practical moments of interpretation; information brokers and hence in the fortunate positions to bring about social change.

At a ceremony in Hannesarholt, Iceland, on the 18th February, Hafdís Ingvarsdóttir, founder president of STÍL, the Association of Foreign Language Teachers in Iceland, was presented with an FIPLV International Award for 2015. This was awarded for distinguished and outstanding achievement in the field of language teaching language research and language teacher associations.
