Dear Sir/Madam,
The ‘Ecole des Jeunes Orateurs’, in co-operation with Science Po Strasbourg and the Council of Europe, is organising the third edition of the ‘European Debate Contest’ (Prix Européen d’Éloquence). The event, which will be held on 6 and 7 March 2017 in the Council of Europe’s premises, will bring together contestants from all over Europe who will challenge each other for the art of debating in the French language.
In addition to the trophy and the prestigious victory, the winner of the Contest will be offered a tailor-made traineeship matching the profile of his/her studies (European studies, political science, journalism, communication, law, …) in one of the Council of Europe’s entities.
We kindly invite you to share this information with relevant institutions. The candidates are asked to apply via ecoledesjeunesorateurs@gmail.com by 27 February 2017.
We look forward to meeting the candidates on 6 and 7 March in Strasbourg.

A new FIPLV East European Region will be launched at an exciting conference in Varna, on the beautiful Black Sea coast of Bulgaria, 22-25 June 2017. The regional conference is, as always the case with our regional conferences, open to the world, so please consider submitting a proposal and/or attending the conference to support our member association BETA (Bulgarian English Teachers’ Association) who have agreed to host this first conference. Please note the deadline for proposals is 10th March 2017 and reduced fees apply for members of FIPLV member associations.
We would like to welcome our new member association, the Slovene Association of Teachers of Languages for Specific Purposes. It is wonderful for us to have a new member in Europe and we look forward to collaboration. Submit a proposal to be considered to present at the 2017 ACTFL Annual Convention and World Languages Expo in Nashville, Tenn., Nov. 17 to 19, 2017. The Convention Committee is seeking sessions that will help language educators develop their students’ critical-thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills. Deadline is Jan. 13. For further information, see here.

De vijfde editie van het DRONGO talenfestival is inmiddels achter de rug en wat was het een feest! Twee dagen vol interessante sessies, inspirerende sprekers, exposanten en interactieve labs. We kijken voldaan en met gepaste trots terug op het DRONGO talenfestival 2016 en hopen dat jij er net zo van genotenhebt als wij.
